Football is back!
That’s right it is finally football season once again! This has to be the best time of year.
As a 49er Fan I haven’t really had any thing to root for from the NFL. Luckily I have had a bit to root for from the Nevada Wolf Pack (that is two words for you Wolfpack fans from NC State), including a WAC Championship. This year will be hard since we weren’t able to get season tickets but we plan and hope to get them again next season.
This season with Zachary really understanding so much of what is going on around him I really look forward to watching games with him and sharing with the enjoyment of the game as I did with my own dad when I was younger.
Lets go Niners!
Lets go Pack!
Boise St. won’t be able to wear all blue uniforms during home conference games
* No blues for Boise: Boise State will be prohibited from wearing its all-blue uniforms in Mountain West Conference home games because commissioner Craig Thompson said the coaches believe it is an unfair competitive advantage. There has long been the theory that wearing all-blue uniforms on its blue field has given Boise State an edge over its opponents because they can’t find the Boise State players. As Broncos’ coach Chris Peterson said, that’s ridiculous. Hawaii and Colorado State will be allowed to wear their all green uniforms on their green grass fields. Since Boise State hosts Nevada this season in a non-MWC game, it will be allowed to wear the all-blues against the Pack if it wants.
Nevada Players in the NFL
I am sure that most are well aware about Colin Kaepernick was drafted by the San Fransisco 49ers. I had actually thought about making a post on Friday after it happened but decided to wait just incase something happened with some of other potential draft picks from Nevada. Which was a good thing I did. At the end of the draft Nevada had three total players taken. Including Colin there was also Dontay Moch who went to the Cincinnati Bengals and Virgil Green went to the Denver Broncos.
NFL Network only had Video of Colin being actually picked, but they still had some informational videos that they put together before the draft.
Colin Kaepernick selected in the second round #36 overall to the San Fransisco 49ers.
Dontay Moch selected in the third round #66 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Virgil Green selected in the seventh round #204 overall to the Denver Broncos.

Interesting story about Boise St. I always knew there was something wrong with those guys.

Moch sets 40 yard dash record
As I posted last night I am actually looking closely at this years draft. Before today it was mostly because of being interested in where Kaepernick will be going. Today Dontay Moch broke the 40 yard dash record for defensive lineman. It may be a little bit inaccurate as he will mostly likely be playing outside line backer in the NFL, but was a defensive end all through college.

I also found this video with a quick mention of Kaepernick about how he is improving is draft stock.
Colin Kaepernick on ESPN Sports Science
This is really a bit of a slow time of year for me sports wise. There is currently no football since the Super Bowl was a few weeks ago now and opening day for baseball is still over 30 days away.
This year is a little bit different since Nevada has some good players coming out this year which has me very interested as the draft approaches. I came across this video that was posted by the local newspaper. This is Colin Kaepernick who I would say is the best Quarterback to ever play at Nevada. I am still not sure if he has the talent to make it as a NFL Quarterback, but I would really like to see him make it even if he has to change to another position.

Chicago area car salesman fired for wearing a Packers tie
This just seems to be a bit crazy. I mean it isn’t like the guy was wearing one of those damn cheese head hats.
Besides it could have been worse he could have been trying to sell cars in Reno wearing a UNLV jersey. Then he probably would have been arrested.
Finally…Nevada beats Boise St. 34-31
Even though the outcome of the Boise St game every year hasn’t had the outcome I would have liked (Last time Nevada been Boise St was 1998 in Reno), I look forward to this game. It serves as a good reminder of why I will never live in Boise.
Sure it is bigger then Reno and therefore has more things like concerts and events that usually come with living in a big city. The downside is that for the most part the people that live there just flat out suck!
Every year when Boise comes to town there is always thousand of the most obnoxious people that I can imagine (the worse of which always seem to sit by me). This shouldn’t be all the surprising the way the people in charge of the university act as I pointed out in an earlier post. These are people that are from another city visiting for a football game and give dirty looks and make little comments from time to time because I dare be a fan of the HOME TEAM!
I will have to admit even being surprised every year but the shear rudeness of people that will fall or knee you in the back as they are trying to get to their seats with out saying anything at all. Things were taken to a whole new level when after the game Friday night. I looked down at the field after all the Boise players had already left it to see how they had destroyed all of the crowd control fencing and benches on their sides lines. If that doesn’t say high class then I don’t know what does. Then it got even better when I came across this story on ESPN. FOOTBALL IS JUST A GAME! People of Boise need to realize it is ok to get excited at the games and support your team but it is not OK to make harassing phone calls or setup threating Facebook pages because you lost a damn game!
It is things like that which is why Zachary will probably not attend his first Nevada Boise St game until he is at lease 5. That is saying a lot since will will probably take him to the UNLV game next season.
All in all though it was so much fun to be there to finally see the Donkey nation get knocked down a peg. It was defiantly a sports night that I will always remember.
For those that missed it here are the Sportscenter highlights that was on right after the game ended.
