Google Voice … Get it today!
A while back I got an invite to Google Voice and set it up although at the time I didn’t get the Google number to go with it. Recently I finally broke down at got myself a good number when I started realizing it was very hard for people to get hold of me in the sense for Doctor appointments and other things that I wouldn’t give out my cell phone number. After finding out that you can also use this number to block and screen calls.
Windows Live Writer Beta!
A while back I posted that I was starting to use Live Writer to make posts. Well shortly after that I have tried several different programs that really basically did the same thing but now of those had the only thing that Live Writer has, plug-ins! Well because of that and now with the release of the new Windows Live Writer Beta. I had already been thinking about coming back just because of the plug-ins but when I saw the screen shot and saw that they were going to be using the Microsoft Ribbon for the menus. It is going to take a lot for me to switch again.
Google Buzz
So after a little bit of thought I think I am going to give Google Buzz a try. It is kind of a Twitter alternative. I am not going to be posting stuff that I am having dinner at a certain restaurant or announce to everyone that I am about to take a crap. It does make it a easier place for me to post a something real quick that doesn’t isn’t really enough to make a full Blog post about. Also it a lot easier to share stories from my Google Reader.
I may post things on both my blog on my Buzz feed depending on how much I think should be said about the topic. I am looking for a way to show my Buzz feed on the blog as well but I haven’t quite gotten there yet.
If you would like to follow me on Google Buzz go look at my Google Profile.
May 31 is National Quit Facebook Day…
If you have a Facebook account you should really check out the site quitfacebookday.com. There have been a lot of talk in the media lately about are constantly changing the privacy policy. There have been many stories coming out about how this changes have been leaking out a lot of info that people thought would be private. What also doesn’t help is stories coming out about what a great guy the founder Mark Zuckerberg is.
I was actually very much on the fence about finally getting my own Facebook account to see if I could catch up with some people that I have lost touch with over the years. That was until I finally got around to watching last weeks Twit where they talked about all of these things. I will be waiting for an alterative to come a long and maybe catch the next big fad.
First Step on a Very Slippery Slope
North Dakota to Dump Fighting Sioux nickname
This has been something that has been going on for while. This to date is the only one that I know of that a university has actually caved in and decided to change their name. The problem is that this ow starts a president for other groups to try and start sew some of these schools to get paycheck. Soon down the road PETA will start trying to start trying to sew all the school or even professional teams with animal mascots to change their name. Then if that works some Irish person will get the idea to be up set that Notre Dame’s Mascot is a Fighting Irish Man. Then it would be Notre Dame home of that Cupcakes, but then that would only work until the people that go to the football games figure out they are fat because they eat too much since they were encouraged to eat more because they are known as the Cupcakes.
Best Product Name Ever!
I was looking for the best take on the iPad from Apple. I believe this sums it up nicely.
Special Birthday Story
No I am not turning 44 today but I thought this was a fun little story to post.
44th Birthday
Two weeks ago was my 44th birthday and I wasn`t feeling too good that morning.
I went to breakfast knowing my wife would be pleasant and say,
“Happy Birthday!”, and probably have a present for me.
As it turned out, she didn`t even say good morning, let alone any happy birthday.
I thought, well, that`s wives for you, the children will remember…The children came in to breakfast and didn`t say a word.
So when I left for the office, I was feeling pretty low and despondent..
As I walked into my office, my secretary Janet said, “Good morning, Boss, Happy Birthday”. And I felt a little better that someone had remembered.
I worked until noon, then Janet knocked on my door and said, “You know, it`s such a beautiful day outside, and it`s your birthday, let`s go to lunch, just you and me.”
I said, “That`s the greatest thing I`ve heard all day, let`s go!”
We went to lunch we didn`t go where we normally go; instead we went out to a private little place. We had two martinis and enjoyed lunch tremendously.
On the way back to the office, she said, “You know, it`s such a beautiful day, we don`t need to go back to the office, do we?”
I said, “No, I guess not.” She said, “Let`s go to my apartment.”
After arriving at her apartment she said, “Boss, if you don`t mind, I think I`ll go into the bedroom. “Sure!” I excitedly replied.
She went into the bedroom and, in about six minutes, she came out carrying a huge birthday cake —– followed by my wife, children, and dozens of our friends, all singing Happy Birthday.
And I just sat there…on the couch…naked.
New Wal-Mart items…
Wouldn’t be interesting to walk to in your local Wal-Mart one day and see something like this on the shelf.
The new little Wheeler…
Before you say it your right it isn’t December yet. So no this isn’t a post about the new baby. Today Aramelle and I went to the Nevada Humane Society. They right when you walk in they have cats everywhere. They have been over run with so many people having to move to places that may not take pets and have to give up their animals. Because they have so many right now they were having a special were cats over 4 months old were only $10. Once we walked in we pretty much knew we were going home with a new cat even it is wasn’t for the cheaper adoption fee.
Meet Trina.
At first I joked that Trina was like a “micro Reggie” since they are so close in color and she is about a third of the size only weighing in at 6 pounds.
Father’s Day
My first official Father’s Day is finally here. I didn’t think that it would really mean anything to me at first but I have to say it has got me thinking a bit that December 17th is really going to be here way too soon is so many ways.
