I hope you have a great Birthday! I Love you so much!
Geocaching 11 years old
Even though we have only had the chance to go out for some Geocaching a couple of times I think it is really something that I am going to enjoy once we get going with it a little bit.
So far we haven’t had a lot of help with the weather. Since we are taking Zachary out out with us we really have to wait until it it warmer and the weather is little more consistent.
I had know that Geocaching itself had not been around too long as it has not been very long GPS were a common idea for people to have in the car, cell phone, or eve a handheld device. That led me to being very surprised today when I found this post on my Facebook new feed this evening and come to find out today Geocaching is 11 years old. I one day if I am ever in the area would like to go to this cache. That may not happen but I would get there if I can just to say that I found the first cache ever hidden.
Now I am really looking forward to the warmer weather so that hopefully we can get some caching in soon.
Second Find … One Unsuccessful
We set out again to get some caches this today. We got one and tried for another but didn’t find it. Not sure if we are still having problems with learning out to use the GPS to find these items or if maybe if a muggler had got to it. It was still a pretty good day and hopefully we will have better luck another day.
Thoughts after one week of Facebook
Has it really been a week already? Kind of interesting that I am hear now writing this post about the time I have been on Facebook when it was just a couple of weeks ago that I was still swearing I would never sign up.
I am not sure that I quite “get it” yet. I know the point it just a social site for people connect, chat, and share videos/pictures. What I don’t understand if the addiction that some seem to have for it. I have found myself on it almost every night checking on what people posted and looking for new friends but I don’t feel the need to do so like I was going through with drawls from crack or something. So far I have found the site to not be very user friendly. A lot of the menus and options just aren’t very intuitive to me and it seems like there are links in several places for the same options but they do completely different things.
I am starting to find my way around more as time it going on and trying to get involved with comments and checking out what is going on with friends and family. Still not ready to really give my website up as a place where I post pictures and videos though.
Going to the Dark Side…
It almost pains me to say this… On 3/13/11 I finally signed up for a Facebook page. I actually felt dirty this morning when I woke up even after I took a shower. It will probably be a least a week before I will be able to get the stench off.
With that being said I am not going on in on this. I have noticed a lot lately on ads mostly company aren’t pushing their websites, it is all about their Facebook page. I wanted to finally take advantage of stuff like free food and other good stuff from restaurants.
Just not totally sure how much I will actually being using Facebook for sharing videos and pictures since I already do that here on my blog. With that being said I am hoping that I can get a few more followers her with the help of Workbooker posts here will automatically show up on my Facebook page. Who knows maybe if I get a lot of response there I will get into it a big more and actually do some more stuff there.
Reading… Is it really fun?
Many of you that know me may think that title is something that I would never say. In many ways it is surprising to see the words come up on the screen ask I typed them.
I should probably explain a little bit. Christmas this year in the Wheeler family was basically name the Kindle Christmas. My brother’s wife got him one, My mom got one for my step father as well as one each for me an Aramelle. A couple of days later Dave, Aramelle, and I got a crazy idea that we should put all of our Kindles on the same account so we could share the books that we bought.
I now find my it annoying when I don’t get to work early enough or have something that I need to take care of during my lunch hour because it is cutting into my reading time. I know what a nerd I am becoming.
With that all being said and with this concept of trying to post most and have new pages different pages for my new interest that I am growing in to I am launching the Bookshelf. On this page I am going to list the books I have read along with the one that I am currently reading as well as my Amazon Wish list.
Are Cell Phones Making People Dumber?
Sometimes it is just amazing at how stupid some people are.
As many of you know I work at a Telephone company that specializes in Business telephone systems (We don’t mention names for the purpose of this story). Today I had an especially interesting call. I was trying to help a person out with one of their phones. At one point I had asked her if the phone she was using had a standard size phone jack like she would have at her house or a larger one like a computer uses for the internet. Her reply almost made me fall out of my chair. She told me that she didn’t have a home phone. She just has an iPhone so she had never had a phone at home.
Now I understand that this s a pretty common thing to now have a home phone anymore but I don’t believe that this person that had to be around my age had never what the jack looks like on a home phone. The iPhone/smart phone movement hasn’t been here long enough that her statement could be true.
This actually reminded me of another example that Aramelle had run into at work. She actually had a person get mad at her because she didn’t tell them that to be able to send a fax that they would have to dial a 1 infront of the fax number. This person actually has been using a cell phone so long that they forgot that you acutally have to dial a 1 before the area code and number when calling long distance.
In the long run this might all be for the better. Maybe cell phone can get natural selection working again so we don’t have to deal with these brain dead people anymore.
Giving Up!
Well I have found that getting the time to go back and get all the posts that some how didn’t make it all the way up here is impossible. At this point I am just let those older posts die and try to do a better job of making sure new post make it up and try to even post on a more consistent basis.
We will just have to see how that works out!
Missing Posts…
No, this isn’t a dead site. I have actually been making posts here but I didn’t realize that they weren’t showing up at all after publishing them and seem to not exist. I guess I should have be watching my front page more so they I would have noticed this.
The ones that I am can I am going to go back and redo on about the dates they were posted on so that would be why you may see some older posts on here that you could have sworn you never saw before.
