ABOUT ME

“Me” in this case is Aramelle.  Wife to James and momma to one human kidlet (Zachary) and two furbabies (Reggie and Trina).  My age depends on when you’re reading this page.  I was born November 16, 1979…you do the math. ;)   I was raised in Minnesota and now live in Reno, Nevada.  I moved here in 2004 to be with my now-husband, James, who I met online earlier that year.  You can read more about our story and find lots of pictures on our family blog.

I like legal dramas, reality TV, and cooking shows.  I love photography and scrapbooking.  I also love Italian food.  And Mexican food.  And your basic, Midwestern meat-and-potatoes food.  I dislike eggs, onions, and pepper.  I hate bad table manners, and I detest tardiness.

I was once a resident of the world of infertility.  After not trying, not preventing for almost a year (and not getting AF for most of that year), I sought out the help of my absolutely amazingly awesome OB/GYN, Dr P in early 2008.  I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).  Dr P referred me to the almost equally awesome Dr W, a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE), after three cycles of Clomid failed to bring on ovulation.  I began taking Metformin in August 2008, and in September and October, AF actually made an appearance without any additional prodding.  I started to feel hopeful that maybe we were coming out the other side of this mess, but things would prove to not be quite that easy.  Additional tests found that my CM is apparently “hostile,” and hubby has low sperm motility.  Dr W’s solution was to recommend intrauterine insemination (IUI).  We took a break from TTC for a couple months before embarking on IUI at the beginning of 2009.  Our first attempt was a Clomid cycle that failed to produce a baby and robbed me of any every little trace of hope I’d had left.  I wanted another break, but James insisted to do another cycle immediately.  This time, the Clomid was replaced with Femara injections.  I managed to screw up the injections but not badly enough that we weren’t able to proceed with the IUI.  A positive beta followed a couple weeks later, and our son, Zachary, was born December 15, 2009, after a blissfully ordinary pregnancy.  I now reside in the neighboring town, the land of parenting after infertility.  We’ve put the treatments and tests behind us, but I still bare the emotional scars from our time spent there.

Note: Our TTC journey was documented on another blog that has sense become dedicated to sharing updates with our family and friends about Zachary’s life.
