About Us

AAW_6125“Us” in this case is James and Aramelle, a happily married couple living in Reno, Nevada.  We met in early 2004, when fate brought us together via an online chat room.  While neither of us ever expected to find love online, it didn’t take long for a very strong attraction to develop between us.  By that summer, James and I had spent one blissful week together and had come to realize that we wanted to give our budding relationship a real chance.  So, in September 2004, I moved to Reno from my hometown in southeastern Minnesota to be with James.  We were engaged in May 2005 and were married a year later in a very small, private ceremony.  Then, in June 2007, we hosted a vow renewal to celebrate our marriage with our families and friends.

Our TTC journey began shortly after we were married.  In January 2007, I was taken off of my BCP due to a clotting condition, and James and I decided we were ready to lose other forms of BC as well.  And we embraced the possibility of welcoming a child into our lives without actively “trying” to conceive.  By the time our vow renewal came around, my cycle still hadn’t returned to anything that could be described as regular.  At the time, I didn’t think much of it, as I had been told it may take a while to be regular after going off BCP.  After our vow renewal, we decided we were ready to “really” try for a baby.  Unfortunately, my body decided it didn’t agree.  No longer was my cycle just irregular.  It complete vanished.  From July 2007-March 2008, absolutely nothing happened.  In March, I finally reached a point where I was ready to accept that something wasn’t right, and I made an appointment with an OB/GYN.  A few tests and a couple weeks later, James say by my side in the OB/GYN’s office while he explained the test results.  The diagnosis: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).  I left the doctor’s office that day with prescriptions for Progesterone and Clomid.  After three unsuccessful attempts at ovulation with Clomid, my OB/GYN referred us to a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE…also known around here as Dr W).  In August, I started taking Metformin.  And in September and October, AF made an appearance without any extra prodding.  I started to feel hopeful that maybe we were coming out the other side of this mess, but things would prove to not be quite so easy for us.  October found us back in the doctor’s office (this time, Dr W’s), again going over test results.  This time, the tests found that my CM is apparently “hostile,” and hubby has low motility.  His solution was to recommend IUI.

This blog is the story of the steps we’ve taken in hopes of seeing our dream of being parents made a reality.  It is a story of emotionally scarring moments, desperate hope, and the one thing that is helping us through it all…our love for one another.
